M Greenwald is a Virginia-based artist who lives on a ridge and likes to sit and watch the vultures. They work through the language of craft to explore themes of magic, the body, and land. In this, finding spaces for connection and restoration, as well as reckoning with sites of fracture, loss, and grief in the context of capitalism, colonialism, and whiteness.

M earned their MFA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from James Madison University, and a BA from Tufts University. They were twice awarded the Dehn Fellowship for travel and independent research from the Tufts and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as a Graduate Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. M has attended residencies at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, MD the Urban Soils Institute at the SWALE house on Governors Island, NYC, and TEXERE in Oaxaca, Mexico, and have exhibited work in Baltimore, New York, and Seoul. Outside of their artistic practice, they are a farm worker at Second Mountain Farm, a gardener of medicinal herbs and dye plants.
